Insurance Coverage Information

The following are covered by your Employee Benefits Insurance (Manulife, Great West Life etc.) and are no longer covered by OHIP.

  • Chiropractic Care
  • Massage Therapy (R.M.T)
  • Acupuncture
  • Homeopathic Medicine
  • Orthotic devices


The following are covered by your Car Insurance (State Farm, Allstate etc.) and Ontario Government (WSIB) respectively  

  • Auto Accident Rehab
  • Workplace Injury Rehab

1. Types of insurance billing?

  • Pay then submit billing: is the most common format used by insurance companies where, you send your receipts to the insurance company and obtain reimbursement. Our office will provide you with a statement that contains all the information your insurance company will need. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any assistance.
  • Direct billing the insurance company: In order to process direct billing, we need to first contact your insurance company, by phone, to confirm if an assignment of benefits (direct billing) is allowed under your policy and to check other requirements (e.g. doctor’s prescription, medical deducible etc.). You will be requested to sign a direct billing application form. You will also be asked to provide 2 pieces of identification including a valid credit card number. Please note that insurance plans will cover only approved services. After all the necessary forms are signed and approved, we will prepare your insurance claim forms for the direct billing for our regular patients.
  •  Electronic billing: is not available for alternative health care in Ontario. Therefore, we are unable to obtain your insurance coverage details by swiping your card.

    Not sure how to submit your claims for reimbursement? Bring in your extended health claim form or download them from our website (see our list of insurance company claims forms) and our staff will guide you through the process.

    Please note. All insurance company require the consent from the policy holder before we are given any information about your policy, this is done to protect your privacy. Consent must be given in our office and not over the phone.
     

2. Do I need a prescription from my famly doctor to be reimbursed?

  • Chiropractic – not required
  • Reg. Massage Therapy - required for most plans
  • Acupuncture - not required
  • Orthotic Devices – prescriptions are provide by our on staff Chiropodist (Foot specialist) accepted by all insurance company plans
  • Auto Accident Cases and Workplace Injuries – not required
     

3. How much coverage do I have?

  • The amount for your coverage is determined by the policy your employer has purchased from the insurance company. We can contact your insurance company, by phone, to determine your coverage amount for our services and prescription requirement.

4.  "No insurance"? Tips to help you reduce treatment costs and save money.

 Here are some tips that help you reduce treatment cost and save money

  • Treatment fees can be deductible from income tax returns. Even vitamins or supplements from our dispensary can be tax deductible when recommended by our practitioners.* so be sure to obtain receipts and keep them.
  • Enroll in Special Payment Programs.**
  • Recommend your friends, family, and co-workers to us. We'll send you a Massage Therapy gift certificate for each referral to express our appreciation.
